“Lassiter Gold” by Loren Zane Grey. Loren Zane Grey continues the grand tradition of his father, Zane Grey, with further adventures of Lassiter, the rough riding loner from Riders of the Purple Sage, who became America's favorite hero, the greatest western legend of all time. It started with an old man's dying wish. All Lassiter had to do was haul a trunk to the sleepy town of Sun Rise and deliver it to a man's son. But when the son dies mysteriously, and the trunk turns out to be filled with $60,000 in double eagles, Lassiter's simple task becomes a whole lot more complicated. Next thing he knows he's facing the gun barrels of a ruthless gang out to get the money for themselves and a trumped up murder charge. Unless Lassiter finds some way out of this mess, the only way he'll be leaving Sun Rise is in a pine box.

This book contains 230 pages on 4 sides.

Lassiter knew his only chance lay in getting a confession out of Tellfont. Slowly he crept into the parlor to stand where the light was dim, away from the glow of a single lamp. It was on the table where Tellfont was scribbling away.

"Careful, Tellfont", Lassiter warned in a low voice.

Tellfont's shoulders tightened as he straightened up slowly in his chair. "Well, Well! Lassiter!", Tellfont said with forced cheerfulness. "Guess I must've forgotten to lock the back door." He eyed the shotgun, licked his lips.

"Shut up and listen to me. You've got a man to protect you in this house. Tell him to show himself."

"And if I don't?"

"You'll be a grease spot on that chair."
