Current location:
Alumni Day
Each fall, the Iowa Department for the Blind holds its annual Orientation Alumni Day and Banquet. Former Center students travel to Des Moines from all over the country to meet current students and to reconnect with instructors and other former students who went through the program with them. Many bring their friends and family along to share in the experience. Alumni get an opportunity to network with other blind individuals and hear an update on Department activities. More important, though, they "recharge their batteries" by spending time with others who believe as they do that "it's OK to be blind."
2009 Alumni Day and Banquet ("50 Years of Opportunities for Independence")
At the banquet this year, the Orientation Center is celebrating a half-century of providing top-notch training to Iowans who are blind and visually impaired.
