Social Security Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) Increase & 2012 Thresholds
The Social Security Administration has announced a 3.6% increase for Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits beginning in 2012. This increase impacts other SSA thresholds as listed below.
2012 Thresholds
Substantial Gainful Activity (SGA)
Disabled (non-blind) Individuals: $1,010/mo.
Statutory Blind Individuals: $1,690/mo.
Trial Work Period (TWP)$ 720/mo.
*Note that Medicare Premiums for Part B has not yet been announced.
SSI Federal Payment Standard
Eligible Individual $698/mo.; Eligible Couple $1,048/mo.
State of Iowa Blind Supplement: $22
1619(b) State of Iowa Threshold: Not yet announced
SSI Resources Limits
Individual $2,000; Couple $3,000
