Volunteer Workshop

Each spring, the Iowa Department for the Blind holds the Elizabeth Perowsky Volunteer Workshop and Luncheon. The workshop is a chance for volunteers to receive training they may need for their volunteer functions. The luncheon is an opportunity for volunteers to meet and mingle and for the Department to recognize various volunteers for the outstanding work they do. Several awards are presented:

  • The "Volunteer of the Year" Award is named for Elizabeth Perowsky, a renowned volunteer Braillist.
  • The "Florence Grannis Library Service" award is presented to multiple volunteers for exemplary volunteer service, in memory of our first librarian.
